School Lunch Update - PLEASE READ

School Lunch Update - PLEASE READ Featured Photo
The USDA has extended the Summer Food Service Program ‘through the fall months’ while school is in session. This means that school lunches are FREE for ALL students and can be provided for anyone ages 0-18, even if not enrolled in the school. As of September 1st we stopped charging for in-school lunches, though separate milk is still charged (with a cold lunch) because it is not included in the program. Please read attached letter for more information.

Firestone Charter Academy 2020-2021 Re-Opening Plan

Firestone Charter Academy 2020-2021 Re-Opening Plan Featured Photo
In our continued monitoring of the situation, at this time, we still plan to open the school year utilizing two different models. The Full Cohort Model described in the attached document, in which all students who want to be in the building will attend “in-person” learning every day. We recognize that all of our families have different circumstances from which they have to make the best decision for their family. We will also offer an online curriculum that is separate from the district. Our online program will align to our Core Knowledge focus with an emphasis on Character, and will also permit those who may become ill to access and move between “in-person” and distance learning at Firestone Charter Academy. You DO NOT need to dis-enroll your student if you choose this option.

Important Information...

The safety and well-being of every student and staff member is Firestone Charter Academy's highest priority. We are monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) very closely, and are in regular communication with local and state health departments to be sure we have access to the latest information and recommendations from federal, state, regional, and local authorities.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has an extensive collection of information, recommendations, status updates and Frequently Asked Questions about the COVID-19 virus. We recommend referring to those sources for general information about the virus, preventive measures, travel recommendations and alerts, and other valuable information about this rapidly evolving situation.  The Colorado Department of Health website is also a good source of information locally.
We will continue to monitor this evolving situation closely, and will update families as necessary.  Please be assured that the health and safety of our students and staff is our highest priority, and we will continue to do all that we can to maintain continuity of operations while minimizing student and staff exposure.
